Beschreibung

What if the biggest obstacle to a calmer, freer life isn't your circumstances¿but the small lies you tell yourself every single day? For over two thousand years, three remarkable men¿a former slave, a wealthy statesman, and a Roman emperor¿discovered that peace of mind depends less on what happens to us than on how we interpret and respond to it. In A Small Truth a Day, essayist Rowan Linton distills the timeless wisdom of Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius into a year-long companion of clear, practical reflections. Grounded in both ancient Stoic philosophy and modern psychology, A Small Truth a Day shows you how to name the tiny self-deceptions that quietly reshape a life¿and dismantle them, one honest note at a time. No heroic gestures. No dramatic overhauls. Just a small truth, every day, for a year. Inside, you'll discover: How to separate raw events from the stories your mind adds to them¿the practical core of Stoic psychology The discipline of the pause: creating space between stimulus and response so clarity can shape your actions What is actually within your control¿and how to stop wasting energy on everything that isn't Proven ways to work with anger, fear, and desire instead of being ruled by them Simple morning and evening practices for preparing the mind and reviewing the day with honesty A twelveweek program for building lasting character through daily exercise Read one truth a day, and let a single honest year change everything that follows.

Über Rowan Linton

Rowan Linton is a British essayist and nonfiction author known for his calm, applied conversation about life, choice, and daily practice. Educated in the liberal arts at one of Europe's oldest universities, he began his career as a long-form journalist for major British publications, specializing in portraits of people and social phenomena. Alongside his reporting, he kept a widely read blog of essays on everyday ethics and the psychology of choice, gradually building a large international audience and an independent author's platform. His work is built around what he calls the "Philosophy of Small Truths"¿the idea that most human suffering comes not from life's great problems, but from the tiny self-deceptions we repeat day after day. Today he works independently, writing books, publishing a paid newsletter, and running a closed advisory practice for authors and entrepreneurs.
