The opposition of Freiburg scholars and church groups to the Nazi regime has been firmly established in literature concerning the Resistance under the term 'Freiburger Kreise' (Freiburg circles.). Of special significance in these circles were the Freiburg economists who were associated with Constantin von Dietze, Walter Eucken and Adolf Lampe. They participated actively in the opposition against the Nazi dictatorship and developed comprehensive economic and socio-political plans for a postwar system. This volume documents the papers given at the symposium on the 'Freiburg Economists and the Resistance', which was held in July 2004, 60 years after the plot to assassinate Hitler, and which dealt with the role Freiburg economists played in the resistance against the Nazi-Regime in the surrounding field of the university, the church and the general public.
